| Northwest Urban Investment Fund Announced |
|
The Northwest Urban Investment Fund (NWUIF) is a new £100 million fund. It will provide debt, equity and guarantee investment to support projects that will help unlock and regenerate sustainable development in the Northwest’s urban areas.

| Support continues for businesses affected by Cumbria flooding |
|
Since the floods hit small businesses, communities and families within Cumbria, the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) has worked swiftly, with partners, to make sure plans are in place to support those in need. To date, 30 applications have been received worth more than £65,000 and Business Link Northwest has taken over 600 calls.

| New arrival at MediaCityUK |

Peel Media, Salford City Council, Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company and the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) have taken the first step towards creating a specialist innovation and business support facility at the heart of MediaCityUK.

| Northwest Women in Business Awards |
|
The third annual Northwest Women in Business Awards will take place later this month. The awards give recognition to women in business throughout the Northwest and reward the huge contribution that they make to the regional economy.

| Taste of success for food and drink businesses |
|
A £1.5 million ‘Taste’ programme for the Northwest region aims to raise the quality of local produce, help tourism businesses to source more local produce and improve consumer awareness of tourism outlets selling local food and drink. The innovative programme to support the Northwest food and drink sector will be developed following funding approval from the NWDA.

Northwest Urban Investment Fund
The Northwest Urban Investment Fund (NWUIF) is a new £100 million fund to help support urban development projects in England’s Northwest. This is a new financial instrument created by the European Commission in conjunction with the European Investment Bank, which will be available by the end of 2010.
